MILLVILLE, NEW JERSEY. (June 15 , 2021) – The Authority hosted its second Household Hazardous Waste and Document Shredding event of 2021 on Saturday, June 12 from 8:00am until 2:00pm. Co-sponsored by the City of Millville, Cumberland County Utilities Authority, and Landis Sewage Authority, the event was held at The Authority’s Solid Waste Complex located at 169 Jesse Bridge Road, Millville, NJ 08332.

The Authority hosts three Household Hazardous Waste and Document Shredding events each year to give Cumberland County residents an opportunity to safely and properly dispose of their household waste as well as shred personal and financial documents. In total, 484 Cumberland County residents attended the June event, including multiple representatives from the fourteen municipalities. Approximately 62 percent of residents brought documents to be shredded, while other common items included electronics (29 percent) and oil and gas (22 percent). Chemicals, light bulbs, paints, and liquids were among other household hazardous waste items collected.

The final Household Hazardous Waste and Document Shredding event of 2021 will be held on Saturday, September 11 from 8:00am until 2:00pm at The Authority’s Solid Waste Complex.

“We had another successful Household Hazardous Waste and Document Shredding event. I am proud of all the Cumberland County residents that took the time to safely and properly dispose of their household hazardous waste with us,” said Emma Nolan, County Recycling and Clean Communities Coordinator. “The success of this event would not be possible without The Authority’s team, the vendors, and the residents. I am looking forward to the September 11th event, helping to improve Cumberland County’s tomorrow!”

In addition to its environmental related initiatives, The Authority is responsible for the development, financing and project management of projects and programs most vital to sustaining the economic and environmental future of Cumberland County and the state of New Jersey. The Authority works in tandem with the Cumberland County Board of Chosen County Commissioners to foster greater economic growth, business development and quality of life for all Cumberland County residents.
