State’s Newest Technical High School Project Hits Halfway Mark
Reaching the halfway point, construction on New Jersey’s newest career and technical education high school remains on schedule with the opening of the new Cumberland County Technical Education Center scheduled for fall of next year. This $70 million project, supported by the state’s Department of Education and the Cumberland County Improvement Authority, is the leader of several major growth and development projects currently being financed and managed by the CCIA.
The new public high school building is the CCIA’s largest construction management project to date. The 200,000 square foot facility is adjacent the campus of nationally ranked Cumberland County College and the County’s new Workforce Development Center. Hailed as a model, this “Economic Development Triangle” is planned to support the growth and expansion of existing and future businesses by ensuring a highly-skilled workforce.
Cumberland County’s new comprehensive Workforce Center opens officially this month. This new facility and another recently constructed for lease to the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles in Vineland marks the completion of the first two major CCIA developments in the County. CCIA Executive Director Gerard Velazquez said, “All of the new construction projects, along with the acquisition and renovation of the other facilities, brings the CCIA’s construction management total to more than $100 million.”
According to Velazquez, the public can access more information about the new school as well as the features and benefits of other CCIA projects at www.CumberlandYES.com/TEC . Projects completed and or planned for Vineland, Bridgeton and Millville are among the list of developments and improvements being managed by the CCIA. He went on to say, “It’s very gratifying to see the Improvement Authority’s full breadth of expertise and resources benefitting the County and its residents.”
