CCIA Invests $2.5 Million in Cumberland County Via Shared Services

Local Spotlight

by The Authority

Cumberland County College in Vineland, N.J. is now saving more than $900,000 by sharing facilities management and maintenance services under a new agreement with the Cumberland County Improvement Authority. Other municipal and county governments and agencies have also realized shared service gains of almost $1.5 million.

Over the last several years, these economically impactful partnerships have grown and provided efficiencies in operations, partnerships for priority projects, and direct services — all yielding more benefits to the public and a reduced cost to taxpayers across the county.

These services include fleet maintenance of vehicles, a fuel station, purchase of industrial land, financing programs for government equipment, recycling rebates, and economic development services.

“The CCIA is always interested in building cost- saving partnerships with local governments and other entities that will both save money and enhance close working relationships between them,” said CCIA President and CEO Gerard Velasquez.

The most recent agreement to manage and maintain the college facilities will have CCIA staff providing all ongoing building maintenance, landscaping, grounds keeping, preventive maintenance, security upgrades, and building improvements. The college budget thus sees significant savings and allowing it to focus on more direct services to its students and community.

Additional shared benefits for county and municipal governments are marketing real estate, capital project funding, equipment financing program, car and truck wash, and fuel system and vehicle diagnostic devices.
