David Ferrara Named 2024-2025 New Jersey AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador
MILLVILLE, NEW JERSEY. (September 27, 2024) –
The Authority is proud to host David Ferrara as the 2024-2025 Area 17 New Jersey AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador. The Authority continues to serve as a host agency for individuals participating in the AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassador Program (NJWAP), during their term of service. The NJWAP addresses diverse environmental needs of the state primarily through observing and studying local waterways. This is accomplished through a series of stream assessments, presentations, and partnership projects. During his time with the NJWAP at The Authority, David will be responsible for the watershed management area (WMA) 17, consisting of the Maurice, Cohansey, and Salem River watersheds.
David Ferrara is a 2024 graduate of Stockton University with a B.S. in Marine Biology and a minor in Biology. He has gained valuable experience as a camp counselor, which has resulted in a newfound appreciation for environmental education and community engagement. Ferrara is dedicated to enhancing watershed stewardship by educating the community and fostering direct involvement, while also monitoring stream health through visual biological assessments.
“I truly look forward to serving the people of Cumberland and Salem Counties, while contributing to the enrichment of our local watershed together,” said David Ferrara, AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassador.
“I am excited to work with David during his 2024-2025 term of service as the WMA 17 AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador,” explained Samantha DeFrancisco, Cumberland County Recycling and Clean Communities Coordinator. “I am looking forward to seeing him grow through his upcoming projects, trainings, presentations, and cleanups, as he applies his education in both Marine Biology and Biology.”
“The Authority is proud to host David Ferrara during his 2024-2025 NJWAP term of service. The NJWAP is an excellent partnership that allows The Authority to promote environmental stewardship and accountability between the Cumberland and Salem Counties,” said Albert Kelly, Chairman.
