The Authority Names Emma Nolan The County Recycling and Clean Communities Coordinator
Mrs. Nolan’s expertise as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist in Cumberland County, will provide a perfect foundation and enable her to expedite implementation as well as focus her efforts on working with municipal coordinators, and state-wide associations to ensure proper retrieval of recyclable materials, documentation, and recordkeeping of The Authority’s recycling initiatives and collection activities. She will also develop and implement recycling/diversion programs assisting in the promotion of the county’s recycling efforts. Her previous knowledge in New Jersey law, public-health, and illegal dumping as an inspector of solid waste and recycling facilities in Cumberland County puts her in a position to excel as she takes on her new role. Mrs. Nolan’s previous work and knowledge as a substitute teacher in Upper Deerfield Township schools will be beneficial in her community education and outreach.

After seeing the passion, culture, and quality behind The Authority’s Solid Waste Complex through previous inspections, Mrs. Nolan ultimately recognized that Recycling and Clean Communities was a career path she wanted to pursue. The Authority will provide Mrs. Nolan with a platform to learn, grow, and educate others. Her goals include obtaining Certified Recycling Professional (CRP), Certified Public Works Manager (CPWM), and Clean Communities Coordinator certifications, educating proper recycling procedures in Cumberland County and beyond, decreasing illegal dumping and increasing event participation, and making a difference in recycling and Clean Communities through education. Mrs. Nolan is excited for her future endeavors as she hosts Household Hazardous Waste and Document Shredding, the Annual Trash Hunt, Annual Waterways Cleanup, and new events.
