Cumberland Improvement Authority Open During Third Friday in the Glasstown Arts District
On March 18th the Cumberland County Improvement Authority will be open to the public during the monthly Third Friday event in the Glasstown Arts District. The CCIA is located at 2 N. High Street (corner of High and Main Streets) in the former Millville National Bank building.
Artist photographer Dennis Abriola will have an exhibit in the gallery hall on the first floor. Abriola photographs nature and landscape to share his feeling and vision with whomever views his images. He participates in exhibitions in Cumberland County and southern New Jersey.
Cumberland County Improvement Authority invites the public to see Abriola’s art and to view the beautiful restored historic building. Staff members will be on hand to show visitors the fantastic vault which contains original hand-written bank ledger books.
There will be displays of the several county construction projects currently under way. Executive Director Gerard Velazquez remarked, “Our newest project is right down High Street and when completed will be home to the Cumberland County College Arts and Innovation Center. We want to engage the residents and visitors to the area regarding the vision for educational and economic ventures that the Improvement Authority is presently driving forward with its partnering organizations.”
“What better way to bring in the public than by welcoming them on the city’s most festive evening when all arts, entertainment and dining establishments are open,” Robert Nedohon, Chairman of the Board, said.
The Improvement Authority is located only a few doors from the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts and Andrea’s Trattoria Italiana which receive hundreds of guests on Third Friday. You’ll see a sign or welcome flag at the Improvement Authority’s front door. When you step inside, take in the beautiful murals that were created fifteen years ago depicting Millville at the turn of the 20th Century. After touring the building and viewing the photography of Abriola, enjoy a complimentary bag of freshly popped pop-corn. Live acoustic music will be provided by Mark Pasquini.
Mark your calendars not to miss the open house of the Cumberland County Improvement Authority. They will be regular participants at each months’ Third Friday. Information displays and staff members will be on hand each time to keep you updated on what’s going on in our county.
The art exhibit will also change each month and is curated by Diane Roberts, Executive Director of the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts.
